The problem with truth (it’s complicated…)
Here is maybe the biggest obstacle to clarifying your message:
You want to tell the truth.
"What I do is complicated! There are many layers to my process! Plus, I’m working intuitively, not in a linear way!"
But, for clarity and communication's sake, you should find out how to extract the main points of what you're doing.
Simplifying is not lying.
A map has a meaningful relation to the territory, although it isn't the same as the territory.
Sometimes, you just want to see the rough direction of where you're going, not the names of all the small villages
The point is not to put all the complexity into one picture.
The point is to communicate at the appropriate level of granularity.
Does this make sense? And if yes, why aren't you sketching already?
Ok, maybe you do.
Do you?
